Cash generation and conservation techniques

Once controls are established, it may be appropriate to consider identifying larger scale strategic projects and initiatives to improve cash flows.

In this regard, we work with you to identify and prioritise potential cash generation and preservation opportunities. These may include the assessment of sales and profitability (e.g. customer, price and margin analysis), direct cost and overhead reductions, non-core asset disposals, capex planning and deferral and financing options (e.g. debt and equity mix, dividend policy). We will provide you with a cost/benefit analysis for initiatives as well as an implementation plan to achieve the benefit.

You may already have planned a series of cost reductive and cash generation initiatives. In that instance we can undertake a review of the robustness of the planned benefits from each initiative. When reviewing initiatives we consider the practicalities of implementation, timing, risks and consider how the initiative may impact the other areas of the business. We will also provide you with a realistic view on the resources required, and the lag between implementing an initiative and achieving the increase in cash flow.

We also have the experience to help you identify the strategic risks associated with cash generation and preservation initiatives and set appropriate parameters to mitigate the risks and associated costs.

In our experience having a workforce’s goals and motivations aligned with that of Senior Management achieves faster and sustained results. We are experienced in developing cash driven incentives and can assist management to implement incentive structures in a business which has traditionally rewarded management based on revenue or profit rather than cash flow.

Our tools and expertise in achieving results mean we are able to assist you to monitor the progress of cash generation and preservation initiatives and ensure the appropriate organisational skills and abilities are in place to achieve your cash flow goals.
