Damien specialises in restructuring, insolvency and business improvement strategies. He has more than 15 years of experience working with companies and their stakeholders to overcome challenges particularly in uncertain and disputed environments.
He has led a number of complex engagements for ASX-listed companies and multinational businesses. He works with clients to provide practical solutions tailored to their objectives and businesses, whilst applying his commercial nous and analytics based approach. Examples of high profile assignments include the liquidation of $100m of stock through trading the $300m turnover Toys ‘R’ Us Australian business following administration, providing cashflow and solvency advice to the board of Dick Smith Group and operational turnaround and long term trading of Top Ryde City Shopping Centre, including the restructuring of almost 200 leases.
Prior to McGrathNicol, Damien worked in mid-market advisory at a ‘Big 4’ firm and has also undertaken secondments with a bank and other listed financial services companies.
Damien works across a diverse range of industries including retail, hospitality, FMCG, property and financial services. He has a particular focus on consumer markets, where he has deep industry knowledge and strong technical expertise.
