Career Development
Our clients rely on our high performing teams to deliver practical, objective and independent advice, technical excellence, innovative thinking and sound execution capability. We invest heavily in the development of our people to equip them with the necessary skills and expertise to exceed the expectations of our clients and ensure they are able to achieve their own personal and professional goals.
The size of our firm means we are large enough to offer a sophisticated development framework for all employees whilst maintaining the agility to cater to your individual needs and career aspirations.
We recognise career progression and success looks different to each employee, so we put you in the driving seat, supported by our comprehensive development framework.
We offer a number of award-winning development programs to support development across our three skill sets: People, Technical and Business Development. Training begins from day one at McGrathNicol and continues as you progress throughout your career.
We understand that a clearly defined career path and progression are important to you. Our structured performance framework provides our people with the opportunity to be considered for merit-based promotions on a bi-annual basis.
To support your progression and development, you will have a dedicated Counselling Manager and Counselling Partner. You will discuss your short and longer-term career goals and aspirations with your Manager and Partner on an ongoing basis, whilst receiving regular feedback, guidance and support from some of the industry’s most respected practitioners.
Our work is project-based, meaning you will work across a number of teams, service lines, industries and locations. We also offer client secondments and domestic and international secondment opportunities via our international affiliations and networks.
If you join us as a Graduate, you will complete our specialised Graduate Development Program (GDP). The GDP begins in your first week with a local induction to orient you with the necessary information and key people to assist you as you settle in. In your second month, you will attend a national in-house training program, which covers both technical and soft skills content as well as team building and social functions to network and build relationships with your peers and other McGrathNicol employees and Partners.
The GDP continues as you complete additional technical and soft skills training, such as Business Writing, Professional Interactions, and ARITA Introduction to Insolvency, alongside completion of the Chartered Accountants (CA) Program.
We offer full financial and study support for our employees to complete the CA Program, including:
- Payment of all module fees and textbooks;
- Access to comprehensive study notes and guides;
- Attendance at lectures and tutorials, including mock exam days to assist in your preparation;
- Paid study and exam leave;
- National study groups as you progress through the program alongside your peers;
- An assigned CA mentor to support you throughout your studies;
- Payment of annual CA membership fees; and
- Generous financial rewards to recognise milestone achievements and completion of the program.
Your development remains a priority as you progress throughout your career. We partner with a number of leading external providers and internal subject matter experts to ensure you continue to develop as a well-rounded professional and achieve your personal and professional goals. We offer financial and study support for postgraduate courses and continued development through leading professional bodies such as ARITA, CFA and MBA.
