Consumer confidence returned to a neutral 100.0 in August, which was a 3.6% improvement on July. Reduced pessimism around future economic conditions drove the increase, with improvements across all component indices. Traditional retail sales rose for the second consecutive month, recording growth of 0.4% in June, while online sales remain volatile contracting 1.6% in the same period, reversing part of the 3.4% growth in the prior month.
